What are the Reasons for Secondary Infertility?

When you read any term consisting of the word infertility, you may assume it is related to not getting pregnant naturally, where couples visit the best gynaecologist for possible treatments. Well, you are on the right track but let’s break the term and understand it. Infertility is what you already know when couples cannot conceive naturally. Secondary means second time in this medical term. So, secondary infertility is when the couple cannot conceive the second time naturally.

In other words, the couple conceived and gave birth to the first child without help from infertility medications or treatments. However, when they desire to have a second child naturally, the couple is unsuccessful.

Sometimes, couples are able to conceive naturally, but they are not able to carry for long. Basically, the couple is facing recurrent pregnancy loss. That’s when they visit the best gynecologist hospital in India, like us, to examine the conditions and give them a solution.

However, before coming to the treatment, they often want to know why they are facing secondary infertility in the first place. So, in this blog, we will talk about the reasons for secondary infertility in men and women. Let’s start with women.

Reasons for secondary infertility in women

Woman’s age

If women are conceiving in their 20s and early 30s, they have higher chances of getting pregnant naturally, as they are most fertile at this age. As the age increases, the quality and the number of eggs produced decrease. Then the eggs produced may or may not have enough capability to form the embryo. Hence, if you are in your late 30s or early 40s, you must visit the best gynae in Ahmedabad, like us, to suggest the right treatment.

Uterus’s health

If you have gone through surgical delivery of your first child or there is pelvic scarring, you may not go through a healthy second pregnancy. The surgery and conditions may affect the fertilisation process. Further, you may face conditions like a blockage in the fallopian tube, which becomes a hurdle in the implantation of the embryo.

Another condition related to the uterus’s health is ectopic pregnancy. When the fallopian tube has a blockage or scar, the embryo attaches itself to the lining of the tube instead of the uterus, which is called an ectopic pregnancy. Due to the blockage or the scar, the egg may not reach the uterus. In such a case, fertilisation takes place in the fallopian tube itself. Most of these cases result in miscarriage. You can contact us if you are going through any of these situations. We have the best gynaecologist in Ahmedabad, India who will guide you to the reasons and the solutions.

Weight gain & changes in diet

Weight gain can result in ovary dysfunction in some women. You may want to keep your weight in check while planning for a second child. Also, any changes in your diet may affect fertility.

Reasons for secondary infertility in men

We discussed the reasons that may cause secondary infertility in women. Let’s talk about the reasons for men.

Men’s age

Age is a factor for both women and men; as age increases, the quality of sperm decreases. There can also be less movement of sperm, which affects the fertilisation process. If you are in your 40s, you can reach us for possible treatments.

Toxic lubricants & chemicals

The use of toxic sexual lubricants can affect sperm. You must use non-toxic, natural lubricants, which include petroleum jelly, vegetable oils, and more. Additionally, you are being exposed to pesticides, industrial chemicals, excessive heat, or lead can impact your fertility.

Decreased testosterone levels

Testosterone is essential in sperm production. These levels can reduce because of aging, injury to urinary or genital organs, or other medical conditions.

Weight gain

Another point which can be an important factor in women as well as men. Excessive weight gain may affect fertility because it may reduce testosterone levels and add to estrogen levels.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you have understood the causes that can lead to secondary infertility in women and men. If you are facing secondary infertility, reach out to us. As the best gynae hospital, we can conduct necessary examinations and suggest possible treatments.

4 Diet Tips to Enhance the Success of the IVF Cycle

Many couples face the problem of infertility in India. Thanks to the latest technology, we have many infertility treatments available so that the dream of becoming parents can come true. One of the most common infertility treatments is IVF (In vitro fertilization). Let’s understand the IVF procedure in brief before getting to the diet tips during the IVF cycle.

IVF procedure starts with examining the conditions of both partners. The next step is to store sperm from the male partner and eggs from the female partner. The embryo is created in a controlled environment of the laboratory. Lastly, the embryo is transferred directly to the uterus, and she has to take the pregnancy test after two weeks. Now that you know the procedure in brief, you must also understand what you should or shouldn’t eat before and during the IVF treatment to enhance its success. So, let’s begin.

Green leafy vegetables

Generally, we eat more spicy and fast-food at regular intervals and less nutritious food. However, you cannot neglect healthy food. You need your body healthy even before you start the IVF cycle. And a healthy body requires proper nutritious food daily. What can be a better way of starting with green leafy vegetables? You must also intake more vitamins rich food to keep your body healthy at the time of the IVF cycle and enhance the chances of success rate. We have the best IVF doctor in Ahmedabad, who gives all this guidance to our patients. After all, diet is one of the essential aspects of keeping your body healthy.

Add legumes to your daily diet

Legumes play a massive role in keeping a healthy diet. You must start consuming soya beans, pinto beans, navy beans, lentils, black beans, and more. These are high in fibre and are a good source of protein. Additionally, they are low in cholesterol and have a low-fat percentage, so you don’t worry about your fat intake. The best part of having legumes is developing good digestion and a good follicle quality which is necessary for fertility.

Switch to low-fat dairy products

Many times, people make mistakes. They consume more dairy products. They are on the right path but need to stop here and switch to low-fat dairy products. These are rich in protein and calcium, which help you maintain a healthy weight along with enhancing fertility. You must be wondering what also comes into low-fat dairy products. Well, you can consider having skimmed milk, semi-skimmed milk, and other products made from these types of milk.

Avoid processed food, alcohol, and caffeine

We discussed what all kinds of food you must take so far. It’s time to discuss what you must avoid before and during the IVF cycle. The list of which is small. But it is significant. You must avoid processed food, as it increases obesity and cholesterol. In addition, it consists of artificial flavours and chemicals. Our IVF specialist in Ahmedabad advises avoiding such processed food. And most importantly, you must avoid alcohol and caffeine so that it doesn’t affect the body during the IVF cycle.

To summarise, you anyway have a bit of stress about the success of the IVF cycle. The least you can do is follow these tips and keep positive thoughts. These two aspects will impact a lot, as they are associated with your health. Many couples also have anxiety about the IVF treatment cost in India. If you are one of them, do not worry. All the expenses are not fixed but according to your health conditions. You can book an appointment with our IVF specialist for more information.

Debunking Myths of IVF Treatment

“IVF is the only solution for infertility.”

“You need to take time off for a long period for IVF treatment.”

Like these, you may have heard of many facts and myths about IVF treatment. How do you differentiate when you don’t have enough information?

We have listed the most common myths for couples seeking IVF treatment.

Myth #1 –

You need to take time off and rest to increase success rates.

You may have heard that after the IVF procedure, you need to take time off and rest for an extended period to enhance the success rate. However, it is partially true. You need to rest for some time after the procedure, not for long. If you are asked to rest for a long time due to your health conditions, it could have been with a normal pregnancy as well.

Myth #2 –

IVF treatment is suitable for all types of infertility.

IVF procedure is believed to be the last alternative to fertility treatments. It can also be the first one, depending on your health conditions. However, IVF cannot be the procedure for all types of infertility. IVF is one of the treatments, not the only one. We have the best infertility specialist in Gujarat that examines all the conditions and takes tests. Based on observation, they suggest fertility treatment to the couple.

Myth #3 –

IVF enhances a woman’s fertility.

The number and quality of eggs decrease with a woman’s increasing age. Until the 30s, the reduction is slow. However, eggs drastically reduce after the mid-30s. And this entire process is natural. Now, IVF is one fertility treatment that helps women conceive. It does not mean the procedure enhances a woman’s natural fertility or reverses the natural process of eggs in the ovaries.

Myth #4 –

IVF is the guaranteed fertility treatment.

The success of IVF treatment determines many factors, including the woman’s age and the quality of transferred embryos. Hence, no infertility specialist can guarantee the success of IVF treatment. Sad, but it’s true. However, you can choose Sunflower Hospital – the best IVF center in Gujarat, with a higher success rate for IVF procedures.

Myth #5 –

The medications given during IVF treatment have many side effects.

When hormones are given as medications, during IVF treatment for egg release, may have specific side effects, like mood swings or feeling emotional. However, these effects will stay till the eggs are released, or the embryo is transferred. Once the procedure is completed and the woman is pregnant, these effects will be gone. In addition, pregnancy may bring specific hormonal changes. But it is due to pregnancy which can happen during normal pregnancy as well, depending upon a woman’s health condition.

Myth #6 –

The cost of IVF is the same for everyone.

It is not true. The cost of IVF depends on the health conditions of the couple. Yes, basic IVF costs remain the same. However, some couples require medications to enhance the success rate of IVF; others don’t. Hence, no one can tell you that IVF costs are the same for all or explain your IVF costs before examining your conditions. The couple’s conditions determine the IVF treatment cost in India.

Hopefully, you do not have any doubts about these myths of the IVF procedure. If you have any queries, feel free to reach out to us.

What is the Process of IUI Treatment?

Many couples are unable to conceive naturally. There are many reasons as well as treatments for this situation. One of the treatments is intrauterine insemination (IUI).

During the IUI treatment in India, our infertility specialists put sperms directly inside the uterus. However, the treatment consists of many steps apart from the transition of sperms. Let’s understand each step.

Stimulate egg growth

IUI treatment begins with stimulating the egg growth of a woman. The medication is given either orally or through injection for the growth and maturation of eggs. The injection is recommended in the area with body fat, like the stomach or the top of the thigh. Oral medication requires 5 days of continuous consumption, whereas injectable medication takes 8-12 days depending upon the response of the ovaries.

Ultrasound and blood monitoring

While a woman is in the process of injectable medication, she requires brief ultrasound appointments every 2-3 days in order to monitor egg development. In addition, certain blood tests are completed to check the hormonal levels that are related to egg growth and ovarian function. With the help of testing and monitoring, our infertility specialists check and ensure the safe progress of IUI treatment in Gujarat.

Ovulation induced

Once our specialists observe a ripe egg, they give a trigger shot to the woman. It causes ovulation within 36 hours.

Sperm sample processed

The male partner provides sperm or donor sperm is processed in the laboratory. The procedure involves washing the sperm to remove debris and immobile sperm. Also, substances, that may cause severe cramping, are removed.

Insemination Procedure

A woman lies on an examination table just like a routine check-up. The processed sperm is injected through a ting, long, and flexible catheter into the uterus. This procedure takes seconds to complete. Also, it is an entirely painless process. Once, the process is finished, a woman cannot always see immediate impacts on the chances of pregnancy. Further, under certain circumstances, insemination is recommended two days in a row. However, some cases require one well-timed insemination process.

Follow-up

For some women, additional hormonal support is required for preparing the uterine lining for pregnancy. It is usually suggested for women facing recurrent miscarriages.

After two weeks of the insemination process, the blood testing says whether the woman is pregnant or not. Here the IUI process is finished. Now, you must be thinking about the cost this process requires. Let us tell you that the IUI treatment cost in India depends upon the health and conditions of a woman.

In final words, the IUI process is recommended for certain cases. We have the best infertility specialists who suggest going through all kinds of tests and choosing the right infertility treatment for you.

Overview of the causes and treatment of male infertility

Male Infertility: Causes and Treatment

Male infertility is the inability of a man to father children. It can be caused by various medical conditions, which are physical or physiological in nature. Male infertility is often associated with low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or lack of ejaculation. This is a very common health concern, with about one in eight men having difficulty conceiving.

What is the cause of male infertility?

There are several causes of male infertility:

genetic abnormality

Genetic irregularities can be caused either by changes in one or more chromosomes or by the presence of an extra chromosome. One such genetic disorder, Klinefelter’s XXY syndrome, is a chromosomal disorder in which males have an extra X chromosome and a sex chromosome that is either an X or a Y. It causes male infertility because sperm production is not happening in the normal way.

Medical conditions

Medical conditions such as varicocele, in which the veins inside the ovaries become enlarged, lead to male infertility. Chronic diseases such as diabetes and hormonal imbalances also cause male infertility.

Treatment

The following are some of the surgical and non-surgical methods used to treat male infertility in Ahmedabad:

Surgery

Male infertility can be treated in a number of ways, including vasectomy and testicular biopsy:

Vasectomy reversal

Male infertility can be treated with vasectomy reversal. Vasectomy reversal is a surgical procedure that restores fertility for sterilized men if the patient’s semen is of good quality. Patients who have undergone vasectomy may experience an increase in sperm quantity and quality after the procedure.

testicular biopsy

Testicular biopsy is another surgical technique that involves removing tissue from one or both testicles to find the cause of infertility. It is usually done as part of an infertility test and can be used to treat male infertility.

non-surgical

ART (assisted reproductive technology) treatment for male infertility is a type of non-surgical fertility treatment that includes artificial insemination and intracytoplasmic sperm injection. Many couples undergo ART treatment for male infertility in order to conceive a child.

IVF (in-vitro fertilization)

IVF is a supportive reproductive technique for the external fertilization of eggs and sperm. In this procedure, a woman’s ovulatory process is observed and stimulated, then the ovary or egg cell is withdrawn and fertilized with sperm in laboratories under special conditions. The purpose of this procedure is to help parents who are unable to conceive naturally due to infertility.

ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection)

ICSI is the second most promising and successful art treatment for sperm-related male infertility problems. Commonly associated with IVF, ICSI is a boon for male patients who have difficulty with sperm count or motility. Here, healthy sperm are retrieved from the male partner and injected into the ovary manually to ensure a higher chance of fertilization.

What is the difference between IVF and a test tube baby?

Are the test tube baby and IVF procedure different?

Test tube baby is a non-medical term used as an alternative to IVF treatment. So, technically a test-tube baby and an IVF baby are the same things. The test tube baby or IVF procedure is an assisted fertility procedure that helps infertile couples conceive their babies in vitro. In India, 10% to 15% of men have infertility problems, and thirty million couples are diagnosed with infertility problems, of which 3 million actively resort to infertility treatment.

Two decades ago, a test-tube baby was the subject of much discussion, and people were not fully aware of the process and gave birth to many legends that many young aspiring couples wanted to have children. Therefore, this article aims to dispel the myths surrounding the test-tube baby and the IVF procedure so that there is better clarity in conscious decision-making.

Test tube babies are not genetically identical

The test tube babies are made in vitro by extracting, mixing, and fertilizing the female oocyte with the sperm in the lab. Since the process is gamete-based, the children tested are genetically identical. However, the couple may also choose to use another fetus for reproduction with legal formalities.

Test tube babies are relatively weak

There is no evidence that the test tube baby is relatively weak. This is a process that is almost four decades old, giving consistently good results. Today, more than 6 million test tube babies are produced worldwide.

Since test-tube babies are not born naturally, they cannot have their own babies.

Neither are they genetically different nor are they susceptible. So, there is no question that they cannot have their own children. Born on 25 July 1978 in Oldham, England, Louis Brown was the first test-tube baby. There have been numerous studies on its proven IVF procedure that test-tube safe and natural breeding is possible for babies.

The IVF procedure has been adopted very well in almost all countries for the last four decades. Many couples come to India for their IVF procedure because the cost of treatment is much lower compared to western countries, and the chances of IVF success are higher due to the latest advances.

Our Test Tube Baby Center in Ahmedabad has attracted many couples who compliment us for our friendly approach and high IVF success rate. So, don’t let infertility break your baby’s planning. Visit Sunflower IVF Center in Ahmedabad to get world-class and goal-oriented fertility treatment.

Will birth control pills cause infertility in the future?

New medical advances of effective birth control have allowed women to take control of their destinies and have given women the freedom to enjoy personal freedom and postpone their pregnancies which were not possible for previous generations. Nowadays most couples want to have a child when they are financially and mentally strong and stable so that they can give their child a better future. Although women prefer to postpone pregnancy with pills, there is always concern about whether these birth control pills are safe or whether they will lead to future infertility. Just as women want to make sure that these pills can prevent pregnancy, they also want to make sure that they don’t react to their previous contraceptives when they try to conceive, the question is.

Will birth control pills really cause infertility in the future?

The good news is that they don’t, but certain types of birth control pills can cause slight delays in fertility. Here we try to understand how birth control pills work and how they prevent pregnancy. Different methods of birth control There are two main methods of birth control in women whose effect varies according to age, fertility level, and overall health of the woman. Hormonal methods – These prevent pregnancy by adding hormones that control ovulation

? Birth control pills

? Intrauterine device (IUD)

? Vaginal ring and contraceptive patch

non-hormonal methods

? Tubectomy

? Natural techniques of fertility awareness and birth control

? Copper IUD

? Spermicide

How do different birth controls cause infertility?

The combination pills: They contain progesterone and estrogen which work by preventing ovulation and by thickening the mucus and thinning the lining at the neck of the womb. And thus avoid ovulation and prevent implantation which is 99% effective in controlling birth, once taken the cycle becomes normal. But rarely it may take longer to return to normal.

A three-month delay is considered normal.

Mini pill: It also has a similar effect by thinning the lining and preventing ovulation. Once the pill is stopped the cycles are re-established and the lining rarely thickens. The wait can be a little longer for some women.

Hormonal or copper IUD: IUDs have the mechanical effect of preventing implantation while IUDs with hormones have the combined effect of thickening the cervical mucus and thinning the lining of the uterus due to the release of progesterone. The menstrual cycle is restored after the IUD is removed.

Vaginal ring or a contraceptive patch: Both are new hormonal contraceptives that have little evidence of their long-term effects have the same action as pills, and have similar safety indicators.

When do you need advice?

If you are not pregnant within a few months of leaving the contraceptive, there is no need to panic. Couples striving for children are given 12 months and 6 months if the woman is 35 and above. It is possible that the body may take time to re-establish itself so it is important to give it time to return to normal. Get a fertility assessment to find out the possible cause of infertility if there is a delay as it may not be a female infertility problem, it may also be infertility in the male partner. Most of the research has clarified that birth control does not cause any kind of infertility, although there are some misconceptions that birth control pills cause infertility but these are all just myths but the fact is that these pills cause infertility in women. Reason for delay in resumption after ovulation has stopped.

Hormones taken to cover ovulatory problems can cause some changes in the body and an increase in body weight and stress which can lead to an imbalance in the menstrual cycle. There are some other factors that can adversely affect women’s fertility that is not related to birth control pills such as women in their 20s to 30s when the couple plans to postpone their pregnancy but When they plan their child in later years. So the age of women may be over 30 then the increased age of women can also be the factor which can cause infertility which can affect the quality and quantity of eggs of women. If one is using birth control methods one should understand that different methods work differently and but these methods may give some time to prevent pregnancy but may not prevent you from getting pregnant in later years. Postponing babies with different birth control pills can affect your overall health and may have some side effects in the long run but these methods may not make you infertile. But it is important to use the right method for a certain period of time only after consulting an infertility specialist so that you can safely enjoy birth control and fertility can be easily returned to your liking after a few years.
