Call your baby’s doctor if you notice
- Bad odor, discharge or pus from the cord
- Thick, yellow drainage from the eyes
- Refusal to eat several times in a row
- Vomiting (spitting up most of feedings or spit-up that shoots across the room)
- Diarrhea – three watery stools in an eight-hour period
- A fever of 100 degrees or above (Take the baby’s temperature by placing a thermometer under the armpit, with clothing out of the way)
- Excessive crying for several hours for no apparent reason
- A sudden change in behavior or activity (irritability or excessive sleepiness) Coughing
Yellow eye or skin color
- Less than six to eight wet diapers a day by one week of life
